Will AI Actually Replace Cybersecurity Teams?

I think the answer is no, and here's why.

Will AI really replace cybersecurity professionals? πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»

Personally, I think the answer is no.

But I do think there will be many benefits of including AI-integrated tooling into cybersecurity workflows so we spend less time on tedious, repetitive tasks, and more time on problem-solving and actual security issues.

The World Economic Forum has estimated that artificial intelligence will replace around 85 million jobs by 2025.

This stat, including the fact that new technologies are being created to replace certain technical roles including Devin, the world's first fully autonomous AI software engineer, it’ll be pretty interesting to see how far the technology advances in the next 5-10 years.

One of the things that are top of mind for me when people talk about AI replacing cybersecurity professionals is around Auditing and GRC/Compliance, specifically: who will be ensuring that AI-enhanced tooling, that now seem to be integrated into all our third party apps, are actually providing accurate information, especially if the information is potentially used by senior leaders to make business decisions.

More than anything, I expect advancements in AI to create MORE jobs in cybersecurity as we head into the AI-boom.

I think this specific area in cybersecurity will become even more important considering how quickly the market adoption was since the original release of ChatGPT in 2022, almost every app now has some AI-enhanced feature(s).
