I took UnixGuy’s GRC Mastery course.. was it worth it? 👩🏻‍💻

As someone who’s had experience with internal and external audits in my previous roles including SOC II and ISO 27001 audits, I found this course to be extremely helpful, especially for beginners in GRC.

What makes this course stand out is the insight he provides with 20+ years of experience working in cybersecurity and GRC. You not only learn the GRC concepts, but also the common misconceptions, things to look out for, and what organizations get wrong directly from someone who’s seen it through.

GRC Mastery covers 10 GRC modules with a capstone project as well as a career module for applying to your first GRC role. Each module also includes a module quiz and a practical assessment so you can put what you learned into practice.

You can check out the GRC Mastery course linked here. From my experience, it’s one of the best paths into starting a GRC career.

The topics in the course covered:

- Cybersecurity Risk Management

- Security Audits

- Asset Management

- Identity Access Management (IAM)

- Security Education and Awareness

- Data Security & DLP

- Third Party Risk Management

- Pentesting and Vulnerability Management

In each module, I found myself agreeing to the points mentioned because I’ve also been through the auditing grind and it’s awesome to have someone explain these things to you so you know what to do when you experience them for yourself when on the job.
