Are cybersecurity certs more valuable than entry-level degrees? Or are certs more valuable than independent experience? šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸ’»šŸ’”

This was an interesting stat I came across in an article that puts the value of cybersecurity certifications over degrees.

Personally, I know my degree was definitely a qualification for my first cybersecurity role, but I also know many colleagues and friends who have gotten into cybersecurity without a technical degree, or a degree at all.

I agree that the bootcamp route or other alternative learning paths are becoming more and more popular in recent years.

The route you choose to take to get into cybersecurity highly depends on the person and the learning structure that makes the most sense for them at that point in their lives.

BTW - The beginner cybersecurity bootcamp that I recommend is the Springboard Cybersecurity Bootcamp, which has a get a job or your money back guarantee if you qualify ($1000 off Code WITHSANDRA): https://www.springboard.com/landing/influencer/withsandra

Not everyone may have the ability to go through a 4-year degree program but the traditional college degree route also has its own pros.

However, one thing I really appreciate from certain bootcamp programs is that they also prepare you for entry-level cybersecurity certs like the CompTIA Security+.

Hope you have an awesome week ahead! You got this šŸ’Ŗ
